Safinter S.A, one of the world’s oldest and largest producers of Spanish saffron, only harvest Saffron from the La Mancha region of Spain, renowned for its quality Saffron, the dried stigma of the Crocus Sativus plant, is the world’s most precious spice, owing to the fact that it takes 160,000 flowers to produce 1 kg. Safinter’s follows ISO -3632 standards in its gardening technique and quality control. The saffron flower must be hand picked at dawn when is in bloom. Saffron is only is bloom from 15 to 20 days of the year, usually during the end of October. The flowers are collected in baskets and transported to the village, where the precious stigmas are removed by hand. Many people, even professionals, find it difficult to distinguish good quality saffron from bad. One of the most marked indicators of quality saffron is its depth of color & flavor when cooking.
